The Morningstar EcoBoost EB-MPPT-30M is a 30A maximum power point tracking (MPPT) solar charge controller built for off-grid solar systems running 12V or 24V batteries. It automatically detects system voltage and uses Morningstar's TrakStar MPPT technology to track the true maximum power point of the solar array as conditions change through the day. A built-in meter gives instant access to current and historical performance data, while dual USB ports let users charge mobile devices directly from the controller.
Product Features:
- A conformally coated circuit board and corrosion-resistant terminals give the controller a rugged, maintenance-free design.
- TrakStar MPPT technology continuously adjusts to the true maximum power point as solar insolation changes, maximising energy harvest.
- The controller maintains high efficiency at low, medium and high power levels, with a peak efficiency of 98 percent.
- A built-in meter provides access to current and historical system operational data.
- Two USB ports share 3 amps of charging capacity for modern mobile devices.
- Continuous self-diagnostics monitor and report errors through status LEDs or the optional display.
- The controller can act as a lighting controller, using the PV array to switch loads at dusk and dawn.
- DC loads can be connected directly to the controller, with a programmable load disconnect to protect the battery.
- PV array flexibility allows two modules in series to charge a 12V or 24V battery system.
Application Areas:
- Charging 12V or 24V battery banks in off-grid solar power systems.
- Switching DC lighting loads on at dusk and off at dawn using the PV array as a light sensor.
- Powering and protecting DC loads connected directly to the controller, with battery over-discharge protection.
- Providing USB charging for mobile devices in remote or off-grid installations.
Selection & Installation Notes:
- Confirm the solar array's open circuit voltage (Voc) does not exceed 120 volts and that the battery voltage falls within the 10-35V range.
- Two PV modules in series can be wired to charge either a 12V or 24V battery system.
- An optional remote temperature sensor is available to improve charging accuracy.
- Choose the 'M' model when a built-in meter showing operational data is required.
