The Morningstar ProStar PS-30M is a Gene-3 PWM solar charge controller rated at 30 amps for 12V or 24V battery systems, fitted with a built-in meter for on-site monitoring. It supports lead-acid, lithium, NiCd and other battery chemistries through configurable charging profiles, giving installers flexibility across a wide range of off-grid systems. Built for demanding environments, it combines proven PWM charging with data logging, self-diagnostics and lighting control to help maximise battery life and ensure dependable operation.
Product Features:
- Delivers full nameplate current rating for both solar and load up to 60 degrees Celsius continuous, suiting hot installation sites.
- Automatically selects between 12V and 24V battery systems.
- Logs up to 256 days of solar charge and load consumption data for later review.
- Continuously monitors and reports errors or system faults through status LEDs, the optional display and the communication port.
- Features a high-resolution, multi-lingual backlit LCD meter showing system voltage, current, temperature and lighting settings.
- Can be custom programmed using dip switches, the meter interface or a computer to adjust charging, load communications and lighting control.
- Meets US FCC Class B specifications for low electrical noise.
- Provides field-adjustable, multi-event load control for solar lighting systems.
- Supports open-standard MODBUS communications for remote control and data access.
Application Areas:
- Agricultural and remote environmental monitoring systems.
- Off-grid lighting, automation and control installations.
- Mining, oil and gas, and railroad sites needing dependable battery charging.
- Security and surveillance, telecom and traffic and signaling equipment.
Selection & Installation Notes:
- Choose the PS-30M-G3 where a 30A charge rating and a built-in meter are needed.
- Custom programming is required for battery chemistries other than lead-acid.
- The maximum PV open circuit voltage is 30 volts on 12V systems and 60 volts on 24V systems, so array voltage should be checked against this limit before installation.
