The Morningstar ProStar MPPT PS-MPPT-25M is a 25 amp solar charge controller built with TrakStar MPPT Technology for off-grid photovoltaic systems up to 1100 watts. It supports lead-acid, lithium, NiCd and other battery chemistries with configurable charging profiles, helping to maximise energy harvest and protect battery health. A built-in meter lets installers adjust charging, lighting and load control settings on site without a computer, while a maximum PV open circuit voltage of 120 volts and 12V or 24V battery compatibility suit a wide range of remote power systems.
Product Features:
- High reliability is built in through a conformally coated circuit board, corrosion resistant terminals, premium high-frequency CoilCraft inductors, over-specified components and transient surge suppression.
- Automatic PV based lighting control is field adjustable with multi-event load control for powerful PV lighting system options.
- TrakStar MPPT Technology maximises energy harvest by determining and adjusting to the true maximum power point as solar insolation changes throughout the day.
- MODBUS communications, a solar industry standard protocol, allows easy programming, control, remote data access and charge synchronisation.
- High efficiency is maintained at low, medium and high output power levels to maximise energy harvest and minimise heat buildup inside the controller.
- A high strength polycarbonate case and extruded aluminium heatsink give the controller a durable, rugged build.
- Data logging stores up to 256 days of detailed power and load data for later review.
- Self diagnostics continuously monitor and report any errors through status LEDs, the optional display, or the communication port.
- Fanless design improves long-term reliability with no moving parts to fail, no dirt or debris drawn in, and no parasitic load reducing efficiency.
- The built-in meter allows adjustments to charging, lighting and load control settings without needing a computer.
Application Areas:
- Agricultural systems
- Automation and control
- Environmental monitoring
- Lighting systems
- Mining operations
- Oil and gas installations
- Railroad applications
- Security and surveillance systems
- Telecom sites
- Traffic and signalling equipment
Selection & Installation Notes:
- Custom programming is required for battery chemistries other than lead-acid.
- Input power can exceed the nominal operating power rating; the controller will limit and provide its rated continuous maximum output current into the battery.
- Check that the PV array's open circuit voltage does not exceed the 120 volt maximum rating.
- Confirm the battery voltage falls within the controller's 10-35V operating range before installation.
