The Morningstar ProStar MPPT PS-MPPT-40M is a 40A MPPT solar charge controller with a built-in meter, designed for off-grid photovoltaic systems. It uses Morningstar's TrakStar MPPT Technology to track the true maximum power point as solar conditions change, helping to maximise energy harvest. The controller supports lead-acid, lithium, NiCd and other battery chemistries with configurable charging profiles, making it suitable for a wide range of off-grid applications.
Product Features:
- Built-in meter allows adjustments to charging, lighting and load control settings without a computer.
- TrakStar MPPT Technology continuously adjusts to the true maximum power point as solar insolation changes throughout the day to maximise energy harvest.
- MODBUS communications protocol allows easy programming, control, remote data access and charge synchronisation.
- Automatic PV based lighting control is field adjustable with multi-event load control options for PV lighting systems.
- Data logging stores up to 256 days of detailed power and load data.
- Fanless design with a polycarbonate case and extruded aluminium heatsink has no moving parts to fail.
Application Areas:
- Agricultural off-grid power systems
- Environmental monitoring stations
- Lighting systems
- Mining operations
- Oil and gas sites
- Railroad signalling
- Security and surveillance systems
- Telecom sites
- Traffic and signalling systems
Selection & Installation Notes:
- Supports a nominal battery voltage of 12V or 24V with a battery voltage range of 10 to 35V.
- Custom programming is required for battery chemistries other than lead-acid.
- Maximum PV open circuit voltage (Voc) is 120 volts, so array sizing should keep Voc within this limit.
