        The RFI CD28-41-53-161 VHF Mopole Antenna is factory-tuned to 161 MHz and delivers a 3 dB gain in a ground-independent, no-tune design. Supplied with an MBC right-angle SO-239 roof-mount base and a 5 m low-loss coaxial cable (unterminated), this antenna installs easily on non-traditional mounting points such as gutters, mirrors, or trunk lips. A patented matching circuit sealed in a virtually indestructible thermoplastic body and a flexible 17-7 PH stainless-steel whip provide reliable, long-term performance in demanding fleet, public-safety, and industrial environments.

        Product Features:

        • The 3 dB gain improvement over a conventional ¼-wave whip extends communication range thanks to the Mopole architecture's lower radiation angle.
        • The ground-independent design maintains full performance when mounted on gutters, mirrors, trunks, or other unconventional locations.
        • The broad 148 - 175 MHz coverage offers 4 MHz at VSWR ≤ 1.5 : 1 (8 MHz at ≤ 2.0 : 1) and is field-tuneable using the supplied chart for optimum VSWR.
        • The patented end-fed matching circuit, encapsulated in a high-impact thermoplastic housing, provides consistent 50 Ω impedance and exceptional durability.
        • The flexible, tapered stainless-steel whip with tough black powder coating resists corrosion, vibration, and low-clearance impacts while preserving signal integrity.
        • The MBC right-angle SO-239 base is pre-assembled to a 5 m low-loss coaxial cable for quick, custom field termination (connector not included).
        • The antenna is Australian designed, manufactured, and patented (AU #596830 & #656793) for dependable operation in harsh local conditions.

        Notes:

        • Mopole antennas such as the CD28 have been shown to exhibit a 3 dB improvement in received signal level in the field when compared to a ¼ wave whip however in pattern tests exhibit only 1.5 to 2 dB over a ¼ wave (equivalent to 1.5-2 dBi). This improvement in performance can be attributed to a lower radiation angle level of these ground independent antennas.
        • Available pre-terminated with 5m 8058 RG58C/U. Use -73 or -53 suffix to replace -70 or -50 suffix.
